In 2022, when Adidas announced that it would be cutting ties with Kanye West, the world was shocked but not surprised, as West’s erratic behavior had landed him in some rather hot water. While Adidas thought it smart to pull out of their deal, they ended up being left with $1.3 billion worth of Yeezy’s lined up. Now, after selling some shoes in batches, the fashion brand revealed plans to donate about $152 million from their profits, according to reports from the Associated Press.
The German athletic apparel company also added that the donations would be made to groups countering hate to make the world a better place. So far, they have made donations to the Anti-Defamation League, the Philonise and Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change, and plan to make more. With the brand continuing the selling of their leftover Yeezys, the donations could keep rolling in.
After the fashion brand sold various pairs of Yeezys in the last month, West put Adidas on blast, claiming that the shoes were not really his.
