$2.64 Billion Worth Sportswear Brand Will not be Restocking Kanye West’s Yeezys
Kanye West and his controversial anti-Semitic comments not only led to his suspension from Twitter but also triggered a significant fallout with Adidas, his longtime collaborator. The renowned German brand swiftly severed ties with West, ending a decade-spanning partnership. The aftermath didn’t stop there, as he was subsequently removed from Forbes’ list of billionaires. Interestingly, to West’s relief, Adidas opted to restock its Yeezy inventory in an effort to clear unsold stock.
However, defying expectations, a different brand chose to take a contrasting stance compared to Adidas, opting not to restock Yeezys.

In an intriguing turn of events, while Adidas embarked on a meticulous restocking strategy for their unsold Yeezys, another brand took a strikingly different route. This brand, valued at an impressive $2.64 billion, chose to forego the Yeezy restock option. Adidas on the other hand received a colossal order worth $565 million for a whopping 4 million pairs of unsold Yeezys. Interestingly, Footlocker, which had initially intended to proceed with the restock, later reversed its decision due to mounting backlash and reservations.
Footlocker is steering clear of controversies and backlash, staunchly standing against any form of antisemitic or hateful behavior. While maintaining its steadfast partnership with Adidas, Footlocker has chosen to distance itself from any forthcoming Yeezy releases. Interestingly, even the proposed solution of channeling sales proceeds toward anti-hate groups failed to sway Footlocker’s decision.
Amid these developments, the question arises: Will Adidas continue producing Yeezys without West’s involvement?

Adidas has asserted its ownership of the Yeezy line, yet the German brand has tactfully acknowledged that while they have the legal right to take full control, the current timing would not be appropriate. This intriguing stance leaves a subtle door ajar for potential future collaborations between Adidas and the Yeezy line, as per Complex.
While the possibility of a future Adidas Yeezy line remains, it is worth noting that it won’t be making an appearance anytime soon. Regarding the unsold stock dilemma, Adidas had an alternative approach instead of simply discarding it. They opted for a more meaningful gesture by donating the proceeds from the sales to an anti-hate group, showcasing their commitment to a worthy cause.
