Taylor Swift may be a global pop icon worshiped by many, but lately, she has become a devotee of the Kansas City Chiefs for the sake of her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Most days, she can be spotted cheering her sports star beau from the stands alongside his biggest fans, the Kelce clan. One family member who rarely fails to miss the Chiefs player’s matches is Travis’ father, Ed Kelce. And he is one Kelce who has grown to like Swift the most. 

As it turns out, the first meet-up between Ed Kelce and Taylor Swift did not turn out as most would expect.

During an appearance on The Fan radio show yesterday, Ed Kelce was asked about his experience of meeting Swift for the first time. The father of two divulged that when he saw her initially, he recognized that she was a “kid” he knew, but could not remember her name. As he told this to his girlfriend, she called him an “idiot” and revealed Swift’s identity. 

Apparently, before a “home game”, a large group of people had arrived at Travis’ house to be taken to the game and Swift arrived there with her “bodyguard“. Well, Ed Kelce was accustomed to seeing local folks hanging around, but he did not expect a mega-celebrity like Swift to be among them. Since his son started dating the 12-time Grammy winner, he now has insight into who Swift is, even beyond her public persona. 

Last year, he also spoke of an incident in which he saw Swift’s true nature.

Chiefs fans and Swifties know how Swift’s NFL adventures at Arrowhead Stadium have become the playground for her run-ins with the Kelce family. At one such match, Ed Kelce spotted a truly remarkable thing the ‘Style’ singer did. She began tidying up litter abandoned by other people. The Kelce family patriarch felt that her actions showcased Swift’s authenticity. This led to him singing her praises. 

Calling her a “very sweet, very charming, down-to-earth” person, Ed Kelce relayed his glowing review of her personality. According to him, she did not behave like a pampered star, as folks would expect. This just goes to show the love the Kelce clan has for Swift and their acceptance of her. From not knowing her name to feeling admiration for her, the relationship between her and Travis’s father has certainly come a long way already.
