TikTok Shoots Back at Universal Music Group as They Plan to Withdraw Music From Taylor Swift, Kanye West and More
The era of TikTok might be at its end. The app is known for its weird trends and catchy songs. However, that could be changing. Just a day ago, Universal Music Group revealed that it would be withdrawing its artists’ music, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and more from the platform unless they negotiated a new deal. With the social app running on its trending songs and dances, it was a big blow for them.
While most of the world expected them to rush at the opportunity to mend their agreement, TikTok recently hit back at the music corporation with a rather surprising statement of their own.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), it was revealed Tiktok issued a statement regarding Universal Music Group’s plans to remove their artist’s music from the social media platform. The statement read, “It is sad and disappointing” that the music company had “put their own greed” above their artists and songwriters. They also claimed that the group was putting forth a “false narrative” about things.
Just earlier in the day, it was revealed that artists like Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Drake, SZA, and more would be pulled back from the platform. The reason they gave mentioned unfair artist compensation and the prevalent use of artificial intelligence. While their reasons may have been valid, TikTok did not seem to take their concerns too seriously.
With Swift AI taking over X just a while ago, it makes sense why celebrities and musicians are beginning to expect the utmost protection for their music and images.
Taylor Swift’s horrific brush with AI
Just a week ago, Taylor Swift’s everyday fairytale turned into a nightmare. While the singer was celebrating Travis Kelce’s big win against the Baltimore Ravens, social media took a rather dark turn. Out of nowhere, the hashtag Taylor Swift AI began trending. Although most people expected it to be images of the singer doing an awkward TikTok dance or even a deep fake wedding video, it was NSFW non-consensual images and videos of the 34-year-old.

The images sent Swifties into a frenzy. However, they managed to band together and protect their favorite pop sensation and even got the White House involved. Eventually, the hashtag was no more, but it did end up making a comeback just a day or two ago.
