The Real Threat to Taylor Swift’s Chart Domination Is Not Ye, but This Punk Pop Sensation

Published 08/15/2024, 2:47 AM EDT

Taylor Swift and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, the moguls in music, are currently competing for the top spot on the charts. While the rapper is making headlines with his new release, ‘Vultures 2,’ the pop queen is still wringing every last drop from her ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ variants. In response, even Ye adopted Swift's variant strategy. Nonetheless, amid their battle for chart supremacy, an up-and-coming artist is gradually moving up the ranks in the chart and is now just behind Swift and Ye.

Given the lightning-fast rise of this pop sensation, it would not be surprising if Ye and Swift get pushed off the top in just few days.

With ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ Taylor Swift enjoyed 12 consecutive and 14 total weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. However, she was overtaken by Eminem and Stray Kids later on. To reclaim her top spot, she did not only release more versions of her 2024 album and discounted the prices of special editions but also blocked Ye’s debut with his ‘Vultures’ sequel. Despite her efforts, it seems the sensational Chappell Roan is about to take over with her year-old album, ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.’

Roan’s 2023 album has been rapidly gaining popularity and entered the Billboard Top 10 list in June. In just two months, the album has climbed to the 3rd spot, now only 5,000 units behind Swift’s ‘Cruel Summer’ singer. Nevertheless, Swift could turn things around if she releases her highly anticipated re-recording of ‘Reputation.’ And given recent updates, this could happen sooner rather than later.

Taylor Swift has a couple of albums left to refresh her catalog. One is 'Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)' and the other is the highly anticipated, 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)'. In recent developments, The USPTO extended the trademarks for both albums until July 25, 2025. This means, both albums could be out by July next year. But it could also drop sooner.

Nostradamus Insider recently hinted on X that Swift’s final re-recordings might be released in the first or second quarter of 2025. This means we could listen to the albums by June 2025 as well. Regardless of when the re-recordings are released, it will surely make it difficult for anyone else, including Ye and Chappell Roan, to compete against Taylor Swift on the charts.
