It has been over two years since Ye, aka Kanye West, went through the biggest fallout of his career. Unfortunately, it was with the very brand that gave him his most lucrative partnerships in fashion-footwear history and also became the biggest contributor to his former billionaire status- Adidas. Their fallout was packed with creative clashes, accusations of intellectual property theft, battles over Yeezy brand control, and a series of public meltdowns and back-and-forths. But it looks like this long-winded saga is finally wrapping up.

Adidas and Ye have officially closed the book on their decade-long, turbulent relationship with a settlement.

Since Adidas decided to part ways with Ye, the two sides have been caught up in many lawsuits. Recently, Adidas confirmed to reporters on a conference call that their dispute with the rapper now “belongs to the past.” Adidas Chief Executive Bjorn Gulden added, “There isn’t any more open issues and there is no money going either way”. However, he did acknowledge the tensions that previously existed between the two.

In his statement, Gulden also mentioned that the remaining Yeezy stock will be sold by the end of 2024. This out-of-court settlement comes just after the HRSA-ILA Funds took Adidas to court, claiming the sportswear company failed to reveal their internal concerns about working with Ye before their deal. However, the court dismissed these claims due to a lack of solid evidence. While Adidas managed to dodge the legal bullets this year, Ye is finding himself buried under an increasing number of lawsuits- and the cases are only on the rise.

Ye recently tacked on another lawsuit to his growing list over misleading an employee contract and alleged payment shortfalls.

Ye was recently slapped with a lawsuit by New York composer Willie Alexander, who was reportedly not paid for composing music for Ye’s opera, Nebuchadnezzar. The artist said that Ye’s team failed to reward him for his hard work. Unfortunately, Ye has a track record of not paying people- including his lawyer and even his security guard at his Malibu mansion, which just keeps piling on his mountain of lawsuits.

Earlier this year, Ye also faced accusations of workplace harassment, with reports that he did not compensate his Yeezy employees and subjected them to unfair conditions. Given these ongoing allegations against Ye and his employee misconduct at Adidas, it is easy to see why wrapping up this blame game between the German wear giant and the rapper would have been wise.
