The hosts of the SmartLess podcast were the latest to be completely floored by Grande’s impressive Coolidge impression skills.

Ariana Grande recently joined the SmartLess podcast, and at one point, the hosts started playfully calling her Jennifer Coolidge. They asked her, “What’s up, Jennifer?”, and followed it up with, “Why weren’t you in the White Lotus sequel?”. To which Grande replied in her best Coolidge impression, “They —ing killed me off.” She kept the impression going, adding, “They pushed me off a god— boat.” The hosts were left totally stunned, bursting out laughing, and one of them said, “That’s creepy.”

The hosts could not believe how spot-on Grande was, even though it was not her first time doing it. The singer first wowed everyone with her Coolidge impersonation back in 2018 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and since then, she has done it over and over again, even on Saturday Night Live. Fans absolutely love it, but for Coolidge, Grande’s spot-on impression turned out to be a life-changing moment.

Three years back, Coolidge herself has said that Grande’s impression set off a hilarious domino effect that helped relaunch her career.

In 2022, Jennifer Coolidge stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where the host casually mentioned that many of his guests had done impressions of her over the years. Fallon then played clips of impressions by both Chloe Fineman and Ariana Grande, and Coolidge shared a super sweet story about her reaction to Grande’s impression in particular. “You should know that it was the beginning of a lot of cool things that have happened to me,” Coolidge said, reflecting on how that moment kicked off a chain of events.

Coolidge pointed out that it was a time when her career was a kind of in a “dead zone,” but then, after Grande nailed the impression, somehow everything flipped. The pop star even cast Coolidge in the 'Thank U, Next' music video, where Coolidge got to step back into her role as Paulette from Legally Blonde—and it was a total game-changer.
