In his ten studio albums, Ye has received unanimous success. Of the several best-selling and streaming records released under his name, the cover designs stood out as equivocally as the vocals inside. One such collaborator who worked with the ‘Flashing Lights’ singer for a long time was Virgil Abloh. The designer was the one who created the iconic ‘open casket’ design for Ye’s 2013 album ‘Yeezus’, signifying the rise of streaming and the death of the CD format.

The talented artist worked with West under several banners before finally cracking big-time success as artistic director for Louis Vuitton menswear. Such mercurial was his rise that he went on to establish his own label, Off-White. And that landed him as a direct competitor to the rapper’s own Yeezy, making him feel “jealous”. However, it was short-lived as Abloh passed away in a private battle with cancer in 2021. Additionally, Ye mourned the loss with a special Sunday service to remember him.
