Taylor Swift’s 4X Bigger 2024 Prove Her Dominance, Shutting Down Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Comparisons
It seems as if the music industry has been marinating for the past few years to truly unleash its full splendor in 2024. From Ye, formerly known as Kanye West and Eminem, making a return with the former dropping not just one but two volumes of his album to Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande, all coming out with new music, the tensions were palpable. Despite the players involved, it seems that no one has had a year like Taylor Swift.
The 'Cruel Summer' singer has had since the past year been on top of the world with her Eras Tour, while also ensuring that she remains on top of the charts.

While how many tracks attain the top spot and how long the album stays on top more or less depend on the quality of music, how strong an album debuts is directly proportional to the prominence of the artist. With Taylor Swift and Beyoncé being long-time competitors with equally passionate fanbases, it was a knock-down, drag-out fight between 'The Tortured Poets Department' and 'Cowboy Carter'. However, the charts have spoken, and with 2.61 million, Swift stands on top.
In the list of the top US Album debuts, there is a gaping wide gap between the sales of 'The Tortured Poets Department' and the rest of the albums that have been released with 'Cowboy Carter' falling at #2 with 407K. While Swift, Beyoncé, and Billie Eilish may have given each other a tough battle, the top 3 spots being taken up by female artists despite the real Slim Shady himself releasing an album this year is iconic, to say the least.
The charts and audience sentiment usually go hand in hand, as one is simply the indicator of another. However, this time around with Taylor Swift taking the front seat, the charts and the audience are not seeing ear to ear.

'The Tortured Poets Department' was initially released on April 19, but it seems like the variants will not stop coming anytime soon. Swift's intense marketing strategy to ensure that she does not fall off the charts for as long as she can manage, has made not just music fans but the Swifties themselves feel agitated and, to a certain extent, embarrassed.
The singer was accused of blocking Billie Eilish, making way for an intense fan war to break through along with a supposed diss track at the hands of an Eilish and Charlie XCX collaboration. Owing to the release of an overwhelming amount of variants, fans are not holding the singer's top debut spot in a very high regard.
