Taylor Swift Takes the Lead Over Ye With ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, Bringing Back Memories of Their Beef
For over a decade, Taylor Swift and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, have been tangled in one of the entertainment world's longest-running dramas. Following their first infamous face-off in 2009, both the artists have mostly tried to stay out of each other's way. However, in 2015, Swift and Ye seemingly painted over the cracks in their equation. But who could have guessed that it was just a fleeting moment of peace? As Swift continues her record-breaking spree, it seems she has also left Ye in the rearview mirror.
With this, Taylor Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department' might just open up old wounds between the music moguls.

Both Taylor Swift and Ye dropped their albums, 'The Tortured Poets Department' and 'Vultures', in the first half of 2024. This sparked a head-to-head battle for streaming supremacy on Spotify. While Ye has been boasting about his 'Vultures' as the no.1 music album, Swift just blew past the rapper with her latest release. 'The Tortured Poets Department' is now the fifth most streamed album of 2024 on Spotify with 1.28 billion streams.
On the other hand, Ye's 'Vultures' sits on the platform with 1.09 billion streams. Swift's recent streaming feat should not be surprising as her album has been breaking records ever since it hit the airwaves. As the debate rages on about streaming numbers, it is clear that platforms like Spotify are becoming a huge thing in the music world. But what would happen if 'Vultures 2' never makes it to streaming platforms?
After Ye postponed the release of his second collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, there were murmurs about a new plan for the release in the works. But it did not go down the way fans had anticipated.

In today's music landscape, streaming platforms are the litmus test for determining the success of a track or an album. But Ye is calling streaming a new form of piracy and confirmed that 'Vultures 2' will not be dropping on DSPs. Last month, a chat with the YEFANATICS fan page in his Instagram DMs leaked online, and in the chat, the rapper confirmed how he will drop the next volumes of his album. “We sell albums on Yeezy.com," Ye confirmed.
He also mentioned that 'Vultures 2' will be up for sale on Yeezy.com for $20. This move is not all that surprising given the troubles he had with the first volume. The rapper even had one of his most streamed tracks, 'Good,' removed from Spotify. And with this move, it is safe to say that there should not be any toe-stepping between Taylor Swift and Ye moving ahead, at least not on Spotify.
