Although Swift and Spotify have long enjoyed a special relationship—with the streaming giant curating exclusive features for her songs and aiding in planting Easter eggs ahead of her latest album's release—Swift did not make it to Spotify’s Songs of Summer prediction list. Instead, Sabrina Carpenter and Billie Eilish claimed the spotlight. 

This omission is particularly surprising for Swift, considering she had one of the biggest debut albums of the year.

Spotify recently released its prediction chart for the 2024 Songs of Summer, showcasing tracks poised to become playlist staples. While last year's chart was dominated by Taylor Swift's ‘Cruel Summer,’ this year her close friend, Sabrina Carpenter, has taken the top spot with her latest single, ‘Espresso.’ According to the survey, Billie Eilish's ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER’ from ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ claimed the second spot.

The music industry has recently been buzzing about an alleged feud between Swift and Eilish, making this outcome particularly challenging for Swift. Adding to her disappointment, Kendrick Lamar also secured a place in the Top 5, while Swift's song ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart’ from ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ has slipped to number 25, near the bottom of the 30 selected songs.

The insider noted that Swift is aware Eilish may harbor some reservations towards her, suggesting that Eilish's "jealousy" could stem from being relatively new to the industry compared to Swift. The insider pointed to a pattern in Eilish’s remarks that seems to be aimed at Swift. Now, it appears this rivalry has extended beyond words, as Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter have both surpassed Swift on Spotify’s summer playlist predictions.
