Taylor Swift’s ‘You Need to Calm Down’ hits right at the feels when it is Pride Month and the songstress knows it just right. While rendering off her Lyon leg of the Eras Tour on Sunday, June 2, Taylor Swift had a special message for her lovers at the concert. “Happy Pride Month, Lyon,” said the 34-year-old while performing the 2019 hit. Die-hard fans of the songstress would already know the significance that this song holds.
For those unversed, the Grammy winner dropped this song as the second single of one of the most celebrated albums, 'Lover'. ‘You Need to Calm Down’ was originally dropped as a rigid reply to all the homophobic haters. This comes after a few hours of fans' disappointment in the latest move by Swift. Moreover, this is not the first time Taylor Swift has showcased her solidarity with the community.
For years now, she has declared herself as a strong ally to her LGBTQIA fans.

Last year, it was not just a celebration with songs, but the songstress went on to deliver an entire speech amidst an ongoing concert. At Chicago, in June 2023, Swift had the spotlight on the LGBTQIA community while delivering a heartfelt speech, making public her staunch support for her ‘Lover’ fans. While breaking down her thoughts, the star claimed her concert will always be a safe space for her queer fans.
She gushed about how it fills her with all pride when fans rejoice in her space and mingle with each other. Getting to watch her fans being so thoughtful and caring, is all the songstress enjoys the most, Swift added in the heartfelt speech. Concluding the same, she called for more such safe places for the community throughout the world, as and when possible.
