Taylor Swift Shared Knowing Singapore Her “whole life” on Its First Night of Eras Tour
Taylor Swift kick-started the 2023 leg of her Eras Tour with much fanfare in Tokyo. Thereafter, she ushered in the Super Bowl win as her kiss with Travis Kelce gained headlines all until she moved to Down Under for seven cumulative shows in Melbourne and Sydney. Now, even as the glittering show brought out by staggering turnout in the southern hemisphere has yet to fade from mainstream discussions, the ‘Wildest Dreams’ singer has started her rollout at the latest stop in Singapore.
Interestingly, her stint in the South Asian country comes with familiarity as the singer opened up on a tale surrounding her family and the island city.

On March 2nd, a record straight six-day of concerts by the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer wrapped up its first night in Singapore. Among the many interactions she shared with the audience, Taylor Swift took some time off the Eras Tour song’s line-up to share her familial connections with the country, videos of which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter). Apparently, her mother, Andrea Swift, spent a lot of her childhood growing up in the country, and “so I’ve been hearing about Singapore my whole life,” stated the singer.
Each time the Swift family visited the South Asian nation on such tours, the singer’s mother would take them on sightseeing trips across her old house and school. Additionally, the ‘1989’ singer stated that by coming down and performing in Singapore, she was “essentially honoring my family”. Finally, she added a cheerful “I already love you,” to the strong gathering of Swifties before proceeding to continue with the remainder of the schedule.
The happenings of the concerts came despite allegations by the Thailand PM’s about ‘exclusivity’ that had very recently triggered a debate.

A few weeks down the line, Thailand’s prime minister, Srettha Thavisin, alleged that Singapore had tried to win exclusivity over Taylor Swift and the Eras Tour among all other South Asian nations. The leader stirred a debate when he estimated that close to $2 to $3 million in subsidies to the tour’s organizer ensured that the coveted event took place only in the island nation, despite his country coming off as a relatively cheaper option.
In sharp contrast, Singapore hosted a Taylor Swift-themed art trail at Marina Bay Sands, and long lines of fans sporting Eras Tour merchandise highlighted the scene. Furthermore, with the tours already having generated a massive economic impact in Australia, the six days in Singapore may well reciprocate the same.
