Taylor Swift is a cultural icon for a reason, and the Eras Tour upholds it like a true badge of honor. The 34-year-old, who has been globetrotting the last two years to give her superfans a glimpse of the Eras magic she weaved over a decade of her career, does not only take her symphonic charm on a world tour. But for each destination, she readies to take over; she does her homework well enough to make herself feel a part of that cultural headspace. As she kicked off the Canadian and the final leg of the tour, Toronto went over the top to honor Swift.

Swift, in return, extended a special mention to the Indigenous communities of Canada.

Canada is home to over 1.7 million Indigenous people, and strutting her symphonic wave for the last time over there, Taylor Swift ensured a befitting homage for the communities before her show. The Eras Tour singer honored them with a special message on the Megatron, recognizing her performance at Rogers Centre, which is located on Treaty 13 lands. The message acknowledges Treaty 13 lands as the “traditional territory of the Mississauga of the credit.”

Plus, it mentions the land as “the traditional home of many other nations, including the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Chippewa, and Wendat peoples.” Swift expressed gratitude to the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities in the same message, upholding a cultural legacy like no other pop star of her time. These last two stops of the Eras Tour are the ultimate encore of an emotional rollercoaster, but turning the celebration into a meaningful tribute is something only Swift can pull off.

While Swift’s homage was really special for her Canadian fans, it turns out that even the Canadians did not leave any stone unturned in greeting Swift.

How did Canada play host to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour?

When Taylor Swift took her Eras on a world tour, tributes flooded from all nations and host cities in ways that will go down in history. And to imagine her final leg will go without some special treatment? That is a total myth. In fact, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, especially tweeted to extend a hearty welcome to the icon. Meanwhile, Toronto pulled out all stops to redecorate UP Express, now called the "Swiftest Ride," to ensure Swifties land swiftly in the Swift land.

According to Billboard, on November 4, Toronto and Rogers Communications renamed Blue Jay Way, the street in front of Rogers Centre as Taylor Swift Way, with 22 ceremonial street signs ready to be auctioned in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank after the tour’s completion. The city also declared a pre-concert poetry-inspired event under Toronto Poet Laureate Lillian Allen. Although these are only a few mentions of how Canada has lit up for Swift, more updates are soon to arrive as she keeps trailblazing.
