Taylor Swift Notches a New #1, but This Time It’s Through Her Political Clout
Taylor Swift and #1s go hand in hand. Since she released her first album back in 2006, the pop star has accumulated a total of 14 number-one albums, and her streaming records are constantly being rewritten. At this point, it feels like a given that the songstress will dominate the charts every time she drops new music. While Swift’s reputation as a chart-topping artist is well known, she is now making a name for herself in the political world as well.
Just a few days before the election, Taylor Swift found herself topping a list of celebrities again, this time for her growing political influence.

Taylor Swift is one of the celebrities who has always been very vocal about her political beliefs. Not only her endorsements but also a single post from the pop star on social media has driven hundreds of thousands of people to register as voters- that is the kind of power she wields. This influence has recently earned her the title of the #1 most politically influential celebrity in Journo Research’s latest study.
The list included many A-listers from the entertainment industry, such as Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Aniston. But Swift’s index was 84.06, the highest on the list, followed by Jolie, DiCaprio, Bill Gates, Aniston, and others. While Swift has not directly joined any rallies or performed at political events like several other entertainers, she has certainly made waves in the social media realm.
From creating new voters and helping to collect campaign funds to ruffling the feathers of her opposition, Taylor Swift’s role in the election this year has been major.

It all started with that one post from Taylor Swift on Instagram that put an end to the talk about her leaving the left wing. The 'Cruel Summer' singer endorsed the Democrats back in September, which led to a flurry of attacks from the other side. Donald Trump even went as far as to shout his “HATE” for Taylor Swift in all caps on his Truth Social platform. But that has not crushed the spirits of Swift or her fans.
Swifties found a way to turn the hate from the Republican Party into a fundraising effort, bringing in thousands of dollars for Kamala Harris’ election campaign. Swift’s social media endorsement reportedly also brought in 400,000 visitors to Vote.gov within just 24 hours of her posting a registration link. With that kind of impact, it is no wonder Swift has been called the most politically influential celebrity this year.
