How far can love take someone? Well, for Taylor Swift, it has taken her thousands of miles, literally. This year has been a whirlwind for the pop star, and she barely had time to breathe, let alone romance. But despite her jam-packed schedule, she has managed to jet off to see her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, whenever possible. Now that the tour is wrapped up, the couple is basking in some well-deserved downtime. But looking back on the year, their love story did come with a lot of environmental jeopardy.

Taylor Swift is once again on her way to land in the crosshairs of environmental activists with her infamous travel record.

Taylor Swift’s private jet emissions are making headlines yet again. In 2024, the pop star flew back and forth across the Missouri-Kansas state line so many times that Kansas City’s downtown airport ended up as the second most visited airport of the year by her private jet. Her Dassault Falcon 7X clocked 98 flights over the year, with nearly 225 flight hours burning over 80,000 gallons of jet fuel and pumping out 768 metric tons of carbon emissions, according to an analysis of JetSpy data from aviation website Simple Flying.

That is roughly 55 times more carbon emissions than the average American produces in a year. Swift has faced similar backlash for her private jet use in the past. Just last year, the 'Cruel Summer' star became the top celebrity polluter because of her frequent trips to visit Travis Kelce. However, she was not the only one to have received this backlash, thanks to her dedicated fanbase.

Travis Scott, Kim Kardashian, Elon Musk, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, Tyler Perry, Leonard Blavatnik, Kylie Jenner, and Celine Dion- all were accused of massive carbon footprints. While the numbers are staggering, Swift has been making an effort to clean up her environmental act by restoring land, planting trees, and even buying carbon credits to offset the damage.
