Following the release of the documentary, and the overwhelming response, the race for the film’s streaming rights was intense. In fact, virtually every major service was vying for the opportunity. However, back then, Swift’s team delayed the negotiations that were fielding from all corners, mainly because of the SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, it appears the wait is over.

Disney made headlines with its announcement of securing the streaming rights for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film on Wednesday. Following its theatrical release and availability on video-on-demand platforms, it will premiere exclusively on Disney+ from March 15th onwards. Recent reports indicate that Disney has made a substantial investment, surpassing $75 million, to secure exclusive streaming rights with the acclaimed singer. Reportedly, Disney also outbid industry giants like Netflix and Universal Pictures to claim the rights.
Following the theatrical release on October 13th, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour made headlines by grossing an astounding $261.7 million worldwide. It became the most successful concert film of all time. However, the initial 2-hour-and-45-minute theatrical cut left out several key performances. Disney has remained silent regarding the specifics of the streaming deal. Nevertheless, it has been revealed that the streaming version will include five songs that were not present in the movie released earlier.
This is, however, not the only deal Taylor Swift has made with Disney in recent times. She is also directing her first feature film with the streaming giant.

The year 2022 brought news of Taylor Swift’s directorial debut alongside Disney. This marked her foray into feature-length filmmaking in collaboration with Searchlight Pictures. Puck confirmed the likelihood of Swift shifting her focus to her Disney movie following the conclusion of the Eras Tour.
