There are many reasons why Taylor Swift has been dominating the headlines lately. While this can not technically be called her debut, as fans have already seen her work before, this will be her first full-length feature film. 

Recently, a fresh update has come to light regarding the same. Taylor Swift will, reportedly, soon be diving into her project.

Taylor Swift will commence work following the Eras Tour 

Puck has recently shared a report confirming Taylor Swift’s likeliness to start working on her Disney movie following Eras Tour. Searchlight Pictures dropped the news in 2022 that they were backing Swift’s directorial and screenwriting debut. Despite the tight lips from both the production company and Swift herself, reports suggest that she already has an original script prepared, which is going to be the foundation of the project. 

The chatter around her directorial debut grew after she was seen with the president of Searchlight Pictures at the premiere of Poor Things. Searchlight Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield also shared how they see Swift as a “once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller”, as per Variety. Apart from her storytelling acumen and her potential to keep up with the stars, there are a few more reasons why this film could change Swift’s trajectory in the industry. 

While not everyone is pleased with Taylor Swift stepping into the movie business, she has repeatedly shown that she belongs in this field. 

Why Taylor Swift is made for the movies?

Since 2020, Taylor Swift has taken the director’s chair for eight of her music videos. One of her best works was shown in the 14-minute epic All Too Well: The Short Film. This film not only pushed for an Oscar campaign but also won a nomination at the Grammy Awards. It was a hit at festivals like Tribeca and Toronto. The film also won awards like an American Music Award and the MTV Award. 

Last year, Taylor Swift also got invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Besides her music, she has been busy with many other projects. Additionally, she has a diverse portfolio of blockbusters. This includes The Eras Tour, the 2022 drama Amsterdam, and the 2019 musical Cats. With these projects, Swift’s creative brilliance continued to shine on stage and screen. This makes her chances of delivering another blockbuster as a director even brighter.
