In the past few months, there have been a lot of discussions about Taylor Swift and politics. The pop star has never been one to keep quiet when asked about her views on politics, and she has also made quite an impact on the 2024 US elections. But just when fans thought her political adventures were behind her, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made his way into the headlines alongside the pop star. 

Swift recently had Justin Trudeau as her surprise guest at the penultimate Toronto show before the Eras Tour takes its final bow next month. 

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently showed up at Taylor Swift’s concert in Toronto on Friday, which happened to be the second-last night of the Eras Tour in the city. Soon, pictures and clips of Trudeau from the show started popping up on social media after his press secretary, Jenna Ghassabeh, confirmed that the Prime Minister was at the concert with his family. And really, why would not he attend? After all, he was the one who asked for the Toronto stop to happen in the first place.

According to The Canadian Press, Trudeau reached out to Swift on social media, encouraging her to bring the tour to Canada before the Canadian dates were even announced. "It’s me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you,” Trudeau wrote in July 2023, referencing Swift’s iconic ‘Anti-Hero’ lyrics. At the Friday concert, Trudeau was seen swapping friendship bracelets and even showing off a few dance moves (if the British royals can do it, so can he). But Trudeau’s true Swiftie moment did not end there.

The Prime Minister even let himself get a little cringe-y in front of the fans, showing just how far his Taylor Swift fandom really goes. 

Taylor Swift had two shows in Toronto, with her last show in Canada coming up on December 8th. But before she took the stage at the Rogers Centre in Toronto on November 22, Justin Trudeau posted on X saying, “We’re ready for you, @taylorswift13. Good choice wrapping the Eras Tour in Canada.” He also added, “Has this always been your endgame?” 

By Friday morning, Trudeau's post had gotten over two million views and received a mix of reactions from X users. Many found the post a little cringe-worthy. Nonetheless, the whole city of Toronto gave Taylor Swift a welcome like no other. And, it is safe to say that Justin Trudeau definitely got to live out his ultimate Swiftie dream before the Eras Tour wraps up.
