Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance, unexpected as it is, made them one of the most talked-about celebrity pairs out there. It is quite a change for Swift to be dating a professional athlete, given her past connections with musicians and actors. From spotting Swift cheering on the Chiefs from the bleachers to catching her on the field celebrating Kelce’s Super Bowl victory, their relationship has come a long way in no time.

Swift, however, has not just cast her spell on Kelce; the whole team has been won over by the songstress. And recently, a Chiefs coach stepped up to discuss the kind of effect Taylor Swift has had on the Chiefs and the NFL.

There were quite a few football fans who were not thrilled about Taylor Swift’s regular appearances at Chiefs’ games and the attention she was getting from the NFL. However, Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs coach Dave Merritt recently defended Swift, stating that her presence has “actually affected the team in a positive way“. The coach explained on a recent episode of The Sports Shop With Reese & Kmac that seeing Kelce happy on the field, because of the pop star’s presence, also boosted and uplifted him and the team.

He also touched on how the ‘Lover’ singer has entirely reshaped her beau into a “different man“. As per the coach, this change has “helped” the team. Merritt also playfully credited Taylor Swift for the Super Bowl victory. Expanding on the topic of her stealing the limelight at NFL games, Merritt disclosed that Swift initially entered the stadiums quietly until the cameras “put the big spotlight on her“. Nonetheless, he regarded the singer as “part of the family“, and he is not alone in feeling that way among the team members.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid mentioned in a conversation with Mike Florio and Chris Simms that the pop star had personally baked homemade goodies for the team’s offensive linemen. He hinted that, to “fit in,” she cooked up a batch of homemade Pop-Tarts for the line. Simms chimed in, saying that getting in the good books with the linemen was a smooth move for winning over the whole team.

In the past, Andy Reid has also weighed in on the discussion about Taylor Swift distracting Travis Kelce on the field, stating that there “hadn’t been a problem at all“. Reid expressed his viewpoint in an episode of the Let’s Go podcast, saying, “Trav’s handled it right, she’s handled it right, and we just move forward”. With their being ample evidence regarding Swift’s presence not being a distraction, fans of both the singer and the NFL can comfortably watch the romantic saga play out.
