Taylor Swift Gets an Uncanny Shoutout From Legend Billy Joel for Something Fans Called Her Out For
Taylor Swift is one of those rare artists in history whose fanbase would go to bat for her if needed. Not for a single moment have they ceased to rally behind their pop idol. Whether it is against internet trolling or heartbreaks, nothing can escape the radar of Swifties. And when such a fiercely loyal fan group turns to criticize their idol, there is definitely some trouble brewing. This was seen with the recent backlashing of Swift for the saturation of mass music releases.
Recently, adding to the same subject, Billy Joel has also commented on Taylor Swift while also dragging another pop star into it.

Billy Joel recently dropped his first single in 17 years, ‘Turn the Lights Back On,’ in February. During an interview with Variety, when asked about his next release, Joel revealed he will not be putting out any new music soon as the market is currently dominated by Taylor Swift and Oilvia Rodrigo. “I think the only person making new albums these days is Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo,” said the 'Honesty' artist.
He went on to say, “I don’t know other people who make albums. I don’t know what the marketing of that is like now”. Joel also mentioned to Variety that while he loves making music, writing is "a form of torture" for him. Reflecting on the music industry's pressure on artists to sell records and market their material, the Piano Man further advised young artists not to get “hung up” on it. However, this pressure certainly has not deterred Taylor Swift from creating one of the longest albums to date.
As a result, fans have accused her of hogging the charts and not giving other artists a chance.

The release of 'The Tortured Poets Department' was a celebration among all Swifties who had been piecing together easter eggs for months. However, what began as a fanfare soon turned into Taylor Swift fatigue. The pop star announced a 31-song expanded edition of the album soon after its initial release, which brought backlash from fans accusing Swift of not giving other artists a chance on the charts.
For instance, she dropped three new digital editions of 'The Tortured Poets Department' just as Billie Eilish finally dropped her third studio album 'Hit Me Hard And Soft'. The close timing of both releases led fans to speculate that Taylor Swift was trying to elbow Eilish off the charts. In this competitive environment, it is hard to say whether Billy Joel’s comments should be seen as a thumbs-up or a subtle shade aimed at Taylor Swift's market dominance.
