Just days ago, Taylor Swift broke a surprising record when she played the biggest show of her career in Melbourne. Although the turn-up might have shocked her at first, she ended up being overwhelmed by how many people had come to see her. Now, although she had the chance to perform in front of 132,000 of her fans in Ahmedabad, India, she ended up letting the opportunity pass her by as she had no plans of performing in the country.
When Taylor Swift announced the Eras Tour, Swifties all over the world thought they had finally gotten their chance to see their favorite artist in action. Unfortunately for the Indian fans, there were no concerts planned. The closest they could get was Singapore, which would have not three but six concerts from the 34-year-old superstar.
The news of six Swift concerts took everyone by surprise. However, Thailand’s Prime Minister was quick to set the record straight on why the singer would not be visiting any countries in Southeast Asia.
The possible reason Taylor Swift will not perform in India
Just like everywhere else in the world, India has many Taylor Swift fans. While all of those Swifties were hoping to finally get to see the singer in their country, their dreams were allegedly crushed by the Singaporean government. It was revealed by Thailand’s Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, that the Singapore government had possibly secured an exclusive deal with the singer that ensured she could not perform anywhere else in Southeast Asia.

It was also claimed that they had offered Swift a sum of $2 to $3 million to ensure that her concerts would bring in more tourists and sponsors to help add value to their economy. While it might be a good thing for Singapore, it does not look like Swifties are too happy about the whole situation.
