Taylor Swift recently dropped a teaser for 'Fortnight' just hours before its release. “I stand before my fellow members of The Tortured Poets Department with a summary of my findings”, wrote the songstress in her post. The teaser presented a collection of mesmerizing shots, depicting the creator of 'The Tortured Poets Department' in a truly "tortured" light. Furthermore, it featured Post Malone, the collaborator on the forthcoming track and music video.

This past Thursday, Taylor Swift revealed the first single from her highly anticipated album 'The Tortured Poets Department.' Swift's choice for the album's opening song was 'Fortnight,' a collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Post Malone, whom she has "been such a huge fan of", as she revealed while making the announcement. She also disclosed plans for the music video release at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, April 19, synchronizing with the album drop. Yet, the real surprise came with the unexpected teaser that dropped right before fans could hear the track.

Swift dropped the news about ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ shortly after winning her 14th Grammy award in February. Since then, she has revealed four variations of the album during the recent leg of The Eras Tour, each version with its own bonus track. Yet, that is not all Swift is doing to hype up her new album. She has also partnered with Apple Music to curate five playlists focusing on the "stages of heartbreak", that sparked endless speculation among fans about the themes of the upcoming album.

Taylor Swift recently celebrated the launch of her forthcoming album, 'The Tortured Poets Department', by organizing a pop-up library in Los Angeles in partnership with Spotify. Fans did not miss the detail that six out of the 72 drawers in the library were left open. This only added to the already circulating speculation that this Easter egg might be a nod to Taylor Swift's six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn. It all came from the realization that Alwyn was part of a WhatsApp group with a title very similar to Swift’s upcoming album.

In May 2022, Alwyn revealed to British GQ that he and Paul Mescal had a WhatsApp group named The Tortured Man Club. However, by December of the same year, both Alwyn and Mescal admitted to Variety that they had closed the group, as they no longer felt that "tortured". Considering all these subtle clues, and Taylor Swift's history of documenting her romantic tribulations in her music, there is a strong chance that 'The Tortured Poets Department' has been inspired by Joe Alwyn. Well, fans will have their answers in just a few hours.
