For the unaided, X, formerly Twitter, remains banned in China. Along with it, Instagram, and even Spotify remain outside of common Chinese access. Thus, Taylor Swift recently logged in to her Weibo account to talk to her fans. The leading social media for the people of that country had the singer post a brief message asking Swifties to “Keep singing and dancing”. The remarks came close to The Eras Tour concert movie dropping and still airing in Chinese theaters starting 31st December 2023.

A New Year’s Eve gift, the film has so far earned past $5 million in China. Additionally, the surge in revenue comes even as the movie already stands, with a global haul of over $250 million. Furthermore, the singer also acknowledged the movie’s Cinematic and Box Office Achievement nomination at the 2024 Golden Globes. Meanwhile, the film’s continued run comes even after becoming the highest-grossing concert movie of all time.

Premiering on October 11, 2023, followed by a worldwide release on October 13, 2023, The Eras Tour remained no less of a phenomenon. While on its part it overwhelmed theater servers and gripped fans in hype mania, along with the concerts, its impact stood beyond comparison. The several months of touring added an estimated upwards of over $5 billion to the US economy in collateral sales.

Interestingly, as the tour gears up for its Australian leg in February, its impact has already started to take shape. Long ticket queues and rampant hotel bookings have added more than $226 million to the southern country’s economy.
