Taylor Swift Dethroned, Billie Eilish and Charli XCX Succumb to This Global Artist for Spotify Streaming Crown
Fans are still buzzing from the chart battle between Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, which has recently expanded with Charli XCX and Ice Spice joining the fray. Despite daily fluctuations in statistics, Eilish and Charli XCX recently claimed a coveted title from the ‘Karma’ collaborators with their new superhit ‘Guess’ remix. However, within just days of surpassing the 34-year-old from her home turf, Eilish, Charli XCX, and Swift were overtaken by an unexpected new entry on the Global Artist streaming chart on Spotify.
Fans who were focused solely on the Eilish-Swift rivalry now need to readjust their lenses, as the crown slips from both, leaving little to celebrate.

Billie Eilish and Charli XCX recently released a high-profile remix single, ‘Guess,’ sparking speculation that it might be a subtle jab at Taylor Swift. Regardless of the intent, the track resulted in Swift being surpassed by the duo, having edged out her ‘Karma’ remix with Ice Spice. However, Spotify’s global streaming chart revealed that even Eilish had to succumb, with The Weeknd and Ariana Grande's ‘Die For You’ remix taking the crown for the largest first-day streams in Spotify history, racking up 8.931 million streams.
Eilish and Charli XCX’s ‘Guess’ holds second place with 6.857 million streams, followed by The Weeknd’s ‘Save Your Tears’ remix in third with 5.039 million streams. Swift and Spice’s ‘Karma’ remix is in fourth place with 5.036 million streams, while Eilish’s ‘Bad Guy’ remix rounds out the top five with 4.672 million streams. The K-pop group BTS finishes the list with their ‘Butter (Meghan Thee Stallion Remix),’ earning 3.796 million streams.
Even though Eilish fell short of taking the top spot from The Weeknd this time, she did not miss her chance to dethrone Swift just a few days ago.

Since Billie Eilish and Charli XCX released their remix ‘Guess,’ which sparked debate about possible references to Taylor Swift, the pop scene has been closely analyzing chart performance. Eilish and XCX’s collaboration achieved the largest debut for an all-female remix in Global Spotify Chart history with 6.857 million streams, surpassing Swift and Ice Spice’s ‘Karma’ remix, which garnered 5.036 million streams upon its release.
Following this, Swift released a new version of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ just a day after the record was set, leading to speculation that she might have been trying to overshadow Eilish and XCX’s release. While it is uncertain if that was the case, the real challenge to Eilish’s success came not from Swift, but from The Weeknd, who claimed the top spot instead. However, this week has been particularly tough for Swift, as she has been dethroned not just once, but twice in such a brief period.
