Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have often been called a rom-com couple by their fans. After all, their relationship has all the hallmarks of a classic rom-com- from a ‘meet cute’ to the contrast in their careers- pop superstardom and athletic fame- creating the perfect ‘opposites attract’ dynamic. Over the past year, fans have become so invested in their NFL love story that many have joked it could be turned into a rom-com movie. And now, it seems some people have taken that joke a bit too seriously. 

Swift and Kelce have inspired a real rom-com for the screen, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, which will be debuting soon. 

Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story is the latest rom-com from Hallmark and the NFL. The story centers on a woman, played by Hunter King, whose family has a long history of devotion to the Kansas City Chiefs. She meets a new team employee, played by Tyler Hynes and the saga begins. While the movie does not make any direct nods to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, there are some fun NFL cameos, including appearances by Chiefs players and even Donna Kelce, Travis Kelce's mother, in a small but sweet role. 

It all began back in January when the Kansas City Chiefs pulled in Hallmark stars Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish to film a spoof rom-com trailer as part of their post-season celebrations. Hallmark was thrilled with the idea. And it all happened just as the Chiefs were embracing the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce love story, which was making headlines all over. But this might not be the only movie the couple has inspired.

Taylor Swift Swells Up With Pride as the Eras Tour Inches Closer Towards Conclusion

Christmas in the Spotlight is another holiday flick that might have been inspired by Swift and Kelce- or maybe not, but it sure seems like it. 

Aired on November 23, Christmas in the Spotlight followed the love story of Bowyn, a pop star played by Jessica Lord, who fell in love with Drew, a professional football player played by Laith Wallschleger, after meeting him backstage at one of her shows. But as their relationship goes public, things soon get messy with the intrusive press and fans. With false speculations and rumors, their relationship gets scrutinized by the public, just like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s.

Now, even though the writers and producers have made it clear that it is not an official Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce holiday movie, one cannot unsee the similarities in the characters and storyline. And it is quite clear what the makers were aiming for.
