Taylor Swift is shaping up to be the biggest player in US politics in 2024. The pop star might not be a Democrat, but the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz presidential campaign has been brimming with clever references to her. And even more influential than the star herself is her dedicated fanbase, which is doing everything to ensure the Swift-endorsed party triumphs. Recently, they have chalked up another win.

While Donald Trump and right-wing supporters kept throwing shade at Taylor Swift, the Swifties turned that negativity into thousands of dollars for Kamala Harris, to aid her in the upcoming presidential election.

Last week, after facing a storm of scrutiny and backlash, Taylor Swift finally announced that she would cast her vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz this year. In response to this, former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to vent his frustrations with a statement that read, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" An organization of Taylor Swift fans seized this opportunity to raise over $40,000 for the Kamala Harris campaign by using memes and "lyric response ideas", as has been reported by Fortune

Carly Long, a member of the group’s communications team, shared in a statement, "Swifties know that haters gonna hate, but we also know we can do more than just shake, shake, shake.” This is the same organization that reported a $100,000 boost last month. With the latest influx, they have now collected more than $207,000 since starting their fundraising and outreach efforts. But the effects of Swift’s political endorsement did not stop there.

When Taylor Swift announced her political support on social media, she also provided a registration link to help guide her followers through the election process. According to a report by Pop Base, this led to a surge of 400,000 visitors to Vote.gov within just 24 hours of her posting the link. The next day, the site saw 27,000 new registrations and 80,000 people checking their registration status.

Right-wing supporters, however, have not missed a chance to target Taylor Swift ever since. From Elon Musk to Donald Trump’s vice-presidential candidate, JD Vance, the singer has faced sharp criticism from the other side. Nevertheless, the way Swifties are converting this criticism into support shows that Kamala Harris has massive backing this time in the election.
