Gracie Abrams brought the magic on her coattails and some teardrops on her guitar at the Dolby Theatre in LA for the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards. After performing the smash hit ‘That’s So True’ from ‘The Secret of Us,’ she was awarded the prestigious Breakthrough Artist of the Year accolade by Billie Eilish. Abrams took center stage, illuminating the uncertain trials of life. But gatherings like these are reminders that “there’s still so much light and kindness between and among us,” she said.

“We’re living in tricky times,” Abrams noted, aware that Hollywood had a rough start this year. However, in her descriptive thank-you note, she ensured she had a slot for everyone who showed light in the darkness, including iHeartRadio Music Awards winner Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Noah Kahan, with whom she shared the stage at different points of her career. She also showered gratitude to Aaron Dessner, her team, label, band, friends and family, and even the radio programmers and DJs. “You guys are my whole heart,” she added.

Her longtime friend and showbiz contemporary Billie Eilish introduced Gracie Abrams on the stage, and all she had was praise for the winner.

Every award ceremony brings highlights and tragedies to equal measure. But the entire time Gracie Abrams was on stage at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, the moment did not go dull. Billie Eilish awarded her on the Dolby Theatre stage, sharing they had known one another since she was 15. “We started sending each other little voice memos of songs we were writing at the time,” she added. 

Eilish could not stop gushing and raving about Abrams saying, “I love that girl so much.” She even shared how fulfilling it has been to see Abrams “take over the world the past year.” As they both shared a hug on stage, Abrams took the mic, responding with nothing but love for Eilish’s craftsmanship. While the winner called it a “privilege” to be honored at the hands of the one she grew up listening to, the audience may have felt the same, having found the most down-to-earth person in one of the biggest superstars of the era.
