6 Artists Make It to 100 Million Spotify Listener Mark, Taylor Swift Fails to Become One of Them
Throughout 2024, there has hardly been a chart or ranking where Taylor Swift has not secured a spot—and most of the time, it has been at the top. The pop star has topped the Billboard 200 chart twice this year, spent the most weeks at No. 1 on the album chart, and was even declared the second-greatest pop star of the 21st century—though many argued she deserved to claim the top spot. But as we approach the end of 2024, it seems like the songstress' unstoppable streak might be slowing down—just a little.
Taylor Swift recently missed the 100 million monthly Spotify listener mark, falling short of a milestone that was reached by six of her peers.

Crossing the 100 million monthly listener mark on Spotify is no small feat. And this year, not one but six artists achieved it- Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, and Lady Gaga. Shockingly, Taylor Swift—the artist many call the biggest pop star of the century—did not make the cut. Instead, Lady Gaga, with her new record-breaking single with Bruno Mars, is now the most listened-to female artist on Spotify, pushing Billie Eilish down a spot. Meanwhile, Bruno Mars has become the most listened-to male artist.
The Weeknd reclaimed his position as Spotify’s top artist after releasing two new singles, hitting a record-breaking 120 million monthly listeners. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande climbed from tenth place to fifth, thanks to the Wicked soundtrack. Justin Bieber also moved up a spot, likely due to a resurgence in streams for his older holiday hits. But just because Taylor Swift is not topping this particular list right now does not mean she will not reclaim those spots soon.
Despite the 'Taylor fatigue' that some fans are dealing with, it looks like she is gearing up to release another round of hits next year.
Taylor Swift already working on a new 2025 project
Taylor Swift has had an incredibly busy year. Between her massive Eras Tour and the release of 'The Tortured Poets Department,' she has not had much downtime. But that has not stopped her from diving into new music, which insiders suggest could drop as early as next year. According to Daily Mail sources, the singer has been writing fresh material—some of which might address her alleged rivalry with Charli XCX.

“She is having on the Eras tour and has been quietly writing songs backstage,” the source revealed. For now, though, even the queen of pop needs some break. Swift has been enjoying the holidays with her friends, family, and the love of her life, Travis Kelce. But it is only a matter of time before she is back on the charts, dominating the streaming platforms with her endless flow of hits.
