7 Reasons Taylor Swift Is Set to Make a Major 'Reputation' Announcement on July 17

Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation (Taylor's Version)’ is hands down the most anticipated release of 2024. In fact, even before 'The Tortured Poets Department' made headlines, fans were dead sure the pop star would announce the re-recorded album towards the end of her Eras Tour in South America or at the Grammys. And the slew of variant releases from her 2024 album is not doing anything to divert fans' attention from the feverish excitement surrounding ‘Reputation (Taylor's Version)’.

While Swifties all over social media are digging for clues to confirm the album's release, here are 7 reasons why the drop seems totally on the card on July 17.

National Snake Day

During her July 17, 2018, Reputation tour, Taylor Swift celebrated National Snake Day with her fans, calling it her "favorite day of the year". The album, themed around serpents, is rumored to have been inspired by her feud with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian.

Given the importance of July 17 to the snake motif and its association with the 'Reputation' album, it is really not hard to see why this Wednesday might be the perfect moment for Swift to drop 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)'.

Reputation (Taylor's Version) easter egg in Milan

Taylor Swift recently performed in Milan at her Eras Tour show. The songstress surprised fans with a mashup of 'Getaway Car' and 'Out of the Woods' during her secret songs segment. In Swift's 'I Can See You' music video, from 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)', the pop star showed a van, rumored to be the "Getaway Car" heading down the street, and right above it was a sign that read “1989 TV". And this was right before she released, '1989 (Taylor's Version)'.

It is, therefore, possible that her performing these two songs, one from 'Reputation' and the other from '1989' is a sign that the 'Getaway Car' is actually 'Out of the Woods', a reference to her leaving the '1989 (Taylor's Version)' era, and is headed towards 'Reputation (Taylor's Version).

Outfit similarities

Another reason as to why the 'Out of the Woods' reference is a crucial hint for 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)' is an outfit. Taylor Swift wore a pleated blue dress in the 'Out of the Woods' music video, which was the same outfit that was featured in the 'Look What You Made Me Do’ music video from 'Reputation'. Interestingly, Swift has also been performing all her surprise songs on the Eras Tour wearing a blue outfit.

The piano glitch

Taylor Swift, during her second Eras Tour concert in Milan, faced a technical glitch, and fans think it was intentional. While performing the mashup of 'Getaway Car' and 'Out of the Woods', it seemed Swift was facing some trouble getting the piano to close after opening the top. "You know what, we finally broke it,” told the 'Cruel Summer' singer to her technician.

As soon as the issue was fixed, Swift continued to perform the surprise mashup. However, many fans present at the stadium claimed that they heard a snake's hiss come from the piano when the production technician was trying to close the piano.

More Eras Tour malfunctions

Before the piano glitch, another glitch was seen at Eras Tour, which was completely 'Reputation'-coded. During Taylor Swift's London show at the Wembley Stadium, a technical glitch led to her picture on the big screens freeze in an eerie black-and-white hue. The apparent glitch made her look exactly like the zombie from 'Look What You Made Me Do'. Was this really a coincidence?

New Eras Tour wardrobe

Taylor Swift, during her performance in Milan, surprised fans with a striking chevron-style tiger-stripe outfit for 'Fearless', instead of the usual gold or silver dresses. She also changed her outfit for 'The Tortured Poets Department' set, which read the lyrics from 'Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?', which can be associated with 'Look What You Made Me Do' considering that it feels fitting for the revenge-themed album. However, Swift has not changed the outfit for her 'Reputation' era yet and fans think this could be a strategic decision.

The 'Fearless' and 'The Tortured Poets Department' are coming off as very 'Reputation'-esque. And Swifties are convinced that Taylor Swift will introduce a new outfit for 'Reputation' towards the end of Eras Tour.

As per some fan theories, that will also be the moment she will announce 'Reputation (Taylor's Version).'

Taylor Swift's mismatched colorblock ensembles

Taylor Swift wore several mismatched, glittery crop tops and skater skirts during her '1989' set at the Paris Eras Tour shows. The mix-and-match sets with ombré shades of different pop colors gave rise to some 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)' rumors as well. Fans believe that since Swift has already done a double orange ensemble at Eras Tour, the last '1989' outfit she has left to wear is double green, a classic 'Reputation' color.
