While Taylor Swift emerged as the winner of most awards at the 2023 VMAs, her best friend Selena Gomez had a great night as well. Her collaboration with Rema won the Best Afrobeats category, which was her debut category this year. Gomez’s collaborated success, ‘Calm Down’, was trending everywhere in the world and became a leisure activity for fans to groove to its beat. It was undoubtedly a record-breaking hit of 2023 that took both Instagram and TikTok by storm.

However, just after celebrating this achievement, music streaming giants brushed aside the 31-year-old. Two popular streaming platforms took down Gomez’s 2023 hit track, leaving fans feeling confused and eager for an explanation.

Fans were quick to notice that the fourth most-awarded solo artist’s song ‘Single Soon’ was missing from Spotify and Apple Music. The news generated even more traction when the popular Twitter account Pop Crave made a post about it. They shared Gomez’s cover picture from the 2023 album and also added a screenshot that proved the credibility of the rumors. The pop culture page further captioned the post saying “Single Soon by Selena Gomez has been removed from streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.”

Ever since the post began to circulate, fans have been flooding the platform looking for an explanation for this move. Some guessed that it could be a technical glitch on the platform’s end and they might have been trying to resolve the issue. However, netizens also speculated if this was a PR stunt of the ‘Rare’ artist who could hit her fans with another album in the near future.
