Among the many young faces that represent the new face of rap, Jaden Smith and Playboi Carti are two rhythmic poets in their 20s, trying to bring about an evolution in the rap game with their unique beats and bars. While Smith released a track only 6 months ago, the ‘Die Lit’ singer has been brewing his next record for the last three years.  

Since Carti had teased his next album all the way back in 2020, his fans had been growing more restless by the day for good reason. However, it was believed to be finally coming out sometime next year. So when he recently shared a message to his Instagram story announcing that Jaden Smith had called him to say “It’s that 5”, fans were understandably perplexed. Many now believe that the ‘Icon’ singer might feature in Carti’s next works. 

While it is not clear how close these two men are, one of Smith’s most headline-worthy stints this year was when he dressed as Playboi Carti on Halloween. Well, netizens cannot help but entertain the idea that these two might be collaborating on a track now. The Instagram story certainly seems like a hint for fans signaling in this direction. However, what “that 5” alludes to, remains to be decoded.

Just a couple of days ago, fans also wondered if Kanye West would appear on Carti’s upcoming album when he shared a throwback post about Ye. In the past, Smith and Carti have only featured on one song together. This was the A$AP Mob score, ‘Perry Aye’ that showcased them together with A$AP Rocky and A$AP Nast in 2017. On X, many were convinced that this recent share by the ‘Magnolia’ rapper signals another collaboration between the two.

There are also those who think that the “5” is referring to the launch date or time of the album.

However, not everybody is thrilled about the prospect of a Jaden Smith collab on Carti’s upcoming album!

Only time will tell if fans will enjoy their two distinct sounds merged together. For now, if this tease even takes the shape of collab remains to be seen.
