Photographer Shares How She Landed Taylor Swift as a Client at Eras Tour Through Cold Emailing
Having the Eras Tour on any photographer’s resume is quite a big deal. After all, it is the largest musical tour in history, led by the pop queen herself, Taylor Swift. The Eras Tour is especially known for bringing about a noticeable rise in female photographers, who have shared their experiences in countless blogs. Recently, one such photographer, featured in big-name publications like The New Yorker, Times, Forbes, and The Washington Post, shared her experience with the Eras Tour.
The photographer explained how she got the chance to capture Taylor Swift by using the good old trick of cold emailing.

Jasmeet Sidhu is a POC photographer from Toronto, Canada, who has been lucky enough to capture the Eras Tour. In her recent blog on MSNBC, she opened up about how she got her foot in the door with behind-the-scenes photography on music video sets through cold-emailing. This led to a nearly decade-long journey of shooting live concerts that eventually led her to photograph Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
Sidhu's photographs from Eras Tour have also been featured in an exhibition at the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Epic Hotel in Miami. Last year, she wrote another blog sharing what it was like being a photographer on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour with The Muse. But Sidhu is not the only one. Swift and her publicist have been giving smaller photographers and female-led blogs a shot at press opportunities for quite some time- even though it is unclear whether this is done consciously. There are also some specific guidelines for the Eras Tour photographers.
Earlier this year, concert photographer Lilli Newhouse shared the special instructions she got from Swift's publicist for snapping the Eras Tour.

Ahead of Eras Tour's end, Lilli Newhouse revealed to The Mirror all the details that were handed down by Taylor Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine, before the pop star hit the stage. She explained that, before the show, photographers had access to a media room and were escorted down to the photo pit area by the stage just before the show began.
Newhouse, who photographed the show in Denver for Ali and Alex Blogs, pointed out that press photographers are granted pit access only for the first three songs- 'Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince', 'Cruel Summer', and 'The Man'. The photographers are also given a heads-up for the moments when Swift makes the most dramatic facial expressions.
