The 2023 MTV Awards have started off a glittering start. The star-studded event saw memorable performances by Nicki Minaj and Shakira. Along the lines of which, Taylor Swift won two VMAs and Stray Kids their first ever. However, this year’s edition also marks the absence of noted regulars, including Kanye West. As hip-hop ushers in its 50th year, Ye is being dearly missed. Yet, he is not totally out of the picture either. The rapper is notorious for giving the event its most controversial scenes ever and decades later, they still find mention.

Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, known as Peso Pluma, the noted Mexican singer and rapper, will soon take the stage this VMA. Incidentally, on his red carpet moment, he already has taken Twitter by its head. When asked as to what his favorite MTV VMA moment of all time is. The singer hummed with ardent confidence that it was “Kanye West, for sure.” Although we would be wary of it, as there is not one single Kanye West moment across the history of the Awards.

The Mexican singer has often hailed West, along with Drake and Kendrick Lamar, for teaching him English. Thus, it is not entirely a surprise for him to mention West. And the rapper himself has stirred waves right from the 2009 Taylor Swift incident that sparked a long-running feud. Later, he used the stage to announce his presidential campaign as well as a long ten-minute speech. Now fans take to themselves as to what it could possibly be that Plume referred to.

Regardless of this, Peso Pluma has been very influential with his iterations and songs that speak of Latin culture.
