“One of the rare exhibitions”, How Kanye West Had an Impromptu Cypher Back in 2009 With Rappers Charles Hamilton and the Game
The old glory of Kanye West still remains a favorite topic for many. The ‘Donda’ artist, who began as a producer, only came to be known as a rapper in the 2000s era. Fellow artists as well as fans saw his potential right from the beginning. While we saw much of his journey through his Jeen Yuhs documentary, documented videos and clips from the early years also give a glimpse of the past.
Rap music is perhaps one of the few genres where one can make a session out of impromptu singing. In a similar manner, West once had a whopping twelve-minute cypher with rappers Charles Hamilton and The Game, back in 2009.

It has been long since Kanye West has made music, but his name often comes up in the stories of fellow rappers. Charles Hamilton recently discussed his life and past work on episode 7 of The Blog Era podcast with Jeff and Eric Rosenthal. He recalled one particular episode of meeting up with Kanye West and The Game back in 2009. West and the Game had apparently done a cypher outside a Nike store. That led Hamilton to encourage them to have a cypher there and then.
One of Hamilton’s members then recorded the twelve-minute-long cypher. DJ Skee uploaded it on SkeeTV and the clip is still available to watch. “It was one of the rare exhibitions”, recalled Hamilton explaining how he finally believed in himself. All three artists, younger back then, could be seen taking turns to rap one after the other.
It has been years since that moment. Today, the three of them still remain in the news, but for their own reasons.

The three rappers remain in the news for different reasons today
Charles Hamilton recently made news of ending up in an argument with Doja Cat. She apparently mistook him for Anthony Hamilton and only realized it after being deep in the discussion. The Game whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, made news for criticizing Lil Pump’s attire through a social media comment.
Meanwhile, Kanye West remains a paparazzi favorite for multiple reasons. While he is speculated to be making music again, his Yeezy 10 collection is ready to be dropped now.
