OG Ye to ‘Vultures’ Era, Fans Flood X With Wildest Takes for The Rapper's Music

Kanye West has come a long way since his 'Graduation' and 'College Dropout' days. For starters, he does not even go by that name anymore. Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has split his fans into two camps- the old-school Kanye West supporters and those who favor his reinvented self, Ye. While his one-liners have taken a massive dive into wackiness and his rhetoric has shifted from highbrow to dangerously misguided, the essence of Ye and his popularity has remained the same.

A recent thread on X just showed that the fascination with Ye is as strong as ever. The popular X page Ye Streams recently threw a question to the 'Donda' rapper’s fans. The page asked, "What’s your hottest music take when it comes to Kanye?". This unleashed a flood of opinions about the rapper on X, including some pretty out-there takes. Still, the general vibe remained the same- the old Ye was the better version.

This was also highlighted in a recent X poll of 1,222 Ye fans, where they were asked to choose from four of Ye’s albums. They were 'Donda', 'Ye', 'Vultures 1', and 'The Life of Pablo'. According to the results, only 3.4% picked the 2024 release. In contrast, 'The Life of Pablo', which came just before the Grammy-winning rapper reinvented himself, received the highest vote at 46.6%.

The new hot takes, however, were not as straightforward as the poll results suggest- they were a mix of opinions about the polarizing rapper.

Fans flood X with unpopular opinions on Ye

When it comes to Ye, opinions are all over the map. Some see him as a narcissist, while others are die-hard fans of his raw and occasionally unhinged personality. One consistent complaint among his fanbase, though, is that the quality of Ye’s music seems to have taken a huge downturn. Especially after the 'Vultures' drop, barring a few iconic tracks, fans were largely let down by the production on both volumes.

While many fans have shared their unique takes, some seemingly just lost interest in the discourse and declared Ye the GOAT.

Ye, as an artist, appears to be regaining his artistic stride, after being on a hiatus for over two years. He is not only holding concerts more frequently but is also reportedly diving back into music production, even collaborating with some of his old producing partners. Unless this momentum hits another unexpected break, fans might just get the best of both old and new Ye very soon.
