No ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ in 2024: Taylor Swift Ultras Birth a Brand Self Burn New Theory for ‘The Tortured Poets Department’
When the world awaited Taylor Swift's ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’, the 34-year-old surprised fans with ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. While fans got much more than they expected, they remained on the lookout for hints about the re-recorded album. While the Eras Tour has lately been filled with unmistakable ‘Reputation’- themed Easter eggs, leading to a surge in fan theories, these theories have also introduced some troubling speculation, with fans now perceiving reduced chances for the re-recorded album's arrival, largely due to the unexpected ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ twist.
According to a new theory on X by Taylor Swift fan Dhanush, Swift released two re-recorded albums in 2021, followed by a new album, ‘Midnights’, in 2022. In 2023, she again put out two re-records, leading to the release of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, another new album, in 2024. Based on this pattern, the two re-recorded albums still expected from Swift are ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version)’, now speculated to arrive in 2025, as releasing either after a new album could potentially impact the latter’s Grammy campaign.

Taylor Swift released ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ in 2021, followed by ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ in 2023. While this pattern suggests she might continue with a double release of re-recorded albums, there’s no guarantee she will adhere to this trend. Moreover, with a trademark permit valid for another few months for the remaining re-records, fans have some reservations about this theory.
Consequently, Taylor Swift fans are increasingly divided, with one theory contradicting another.
Taylor Swift fans are at odds over the latest Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’s fan theory
When the latest fan theory about Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ started gaining traction, many Swifties shared the excitement but remained cautious. Given that the trademarks for ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version)’ are valid until a few more months, there is some skepticism about the theory's accuracy. Additionally, since Swift released Taylor’s Versions of ‘Speak Now’ and ‘1989’ amid the ‘Midnights’ Grammy campaign, it added to fans' doubts.
A fan noted that they are currently in the midst of the Eras Tour, which is set to conclude this year, making it logical for Swift to announce all the re-recordings during this period.

Some fans, however, argued that ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ is not eligible for a Grammy nomination, so it would not impact ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. Others believed it was too obvious that the re-recordings would not be released this year. While both theories and counterarguments are compelling, they leave fans in a state of uncertainty. Ultimately, only Taylor Swift can provide clarity, and fans will need to rely on her to reveal the truth.
