No Longer #1, Ye’s ‘Donda’ Loses Gospel Album Top Spot to This 24-Year-Old Artist

Ye, aka Kanye West is a jack-of-all-trades, but nothing fits him better than the crown he wears from the legendary mark he has left on the music world. Once the crown prince of hip-hop's golden era, the Atlanta rapper has kept his game strong—even with those random disappearing acts. His ‘Vultures’ rollout is a prime example of him still flexing, but it is his ‘Donda’ album that sits like a crown jewel. That said, the shine might have dimmed a bit after losing the Gospel Album throne to a 24-year-old.

Even though he is no stranger to topping the charts with his relentless drive, this hit probably stings a little extra since ‘Donda’ reigned supreme for quite a while.

Mr. West has been out here turning his listening parties into legendary spectacles, but all that hullabaloo seems to have made him overlook his throne on a chart he has ruled for ages. According to Billboard's latest Gospel Album Chart, Ye's ‘Donda’ has finally been knocked off the summit after an epic 122-week reign—and the guy behind it? None other than 24-year-old American singer David Kushner. Now, Kushner’s ‘The Dichotomy’ is dictating the spotlight at the top, leaving Ye to watch from the second spot below.

'Donda' is the Atlanta native’s tenth studio album, marking his grand finale with GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings. Dropping in 2021, the album boasted a galaxy of star power, just like its chart-topping reign. Meanwhile, Kushner’s 'The Dichotomy' is his first full-length album, released on August 30, serving up 17 tracks that blend alternative/indie vibes with a splash of pop.

In August, American producer and singer Digital Nas gave fans a juicy sneak peek into his conversation with Ye via Instagram stories, hinting at some fresh 'Donda 2' material. Nas sent Ye some unheard tracks, zeroing in on one called ‘Security’ from the same album. He even threw in a playful line—“WE PUT THE SECURITY AT RISK”—along with an audio clip.

The exchange hinted at potential new music or reworked versions of existing tracks. Ye responded with his signature flair, “Bars going crazy,” likely impressed by the sneak peek. But, as usual, there has been radio silence since, leaving fans hanging and the anticipation still heavy in the air about what is to come.
