Taylor Swift is going head-to-head with anyone brave enough to drop music during her variant surge. The pop star is currently on a mission to stay on top of the music charts, no matter how many contenders she has to battle. She released her latest album, 'The Tortured Poets Department,' in April of this year; however, that did not mean she was done emptying her reservoir of music. This led to her clashing with other artists who recently released their music, including the rapper Nicki Minaj.

Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift have been competing ever since the former dropped a new version of her single 'FTCU' on the same day 'The Tortured Poets Department' debuted- April 19. The new version of Minaj’s single gave tough competition to every song featured on Swift’s latest album. However, as Swift recently became the first female artist in history to surpass 90 billion total streams on Spotify, Swifties, instead of celebrating the achievement, resorted to throwing digs at Minaj for being overshadowed in the streaming world.

Back in May, 'The Tortured Poets Department' had its biggest month on Spotify with a whopping 2.7 billion streams. The songstress also pushed past her biggest foe in the industry, Ye, aka Kanye West from the Billboard 200 album chart last month, and Swift was accused of blocking the ‘Donda’ rapper’s way to the top of the charts. However, fans attacking Minaj for Swift’s record-breaking feat did not make much sense, given that there is no bad blood between the two- at least not anymore.

Fans, nonetheless, made sure to remind Nicki Minaj that she cannot compete with Taylor Swift, who is hailed as the ‘music industry’ herself.

Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift have shared a complicated history in the past. Their infamous encounter on X regarding the MTV Video Music Awards nominations is still fresh in fans’ minds. Back in 2015, the two had entangled themselves in a social media argument that got so escalated that it even drew some other big names into the conversation. However, they have moved on from that brief spat, and Minaj has even appreciated the ‘Cruel Summer’ songstress. But it seems Swifties are still not over it. "Nicki can't relate." a fan wrote. 

Amid the negativity, some loyal supporters of Nicki Minaj made sure to support the Trinidadian-born artist.

Taylor Swift is currently busy planning the final stretch of her record-breaking Eras Tour while also finding some downtime to cheer on her NFL boyfriend. It still remains to be seen how long the pop star intends to compete in the charts, leaving every other artist trailing behind.
