Initially slated for September 10, the ceremony was rescheduled a day later to avoid clashing with the presidential debates between the Republican Party’s Donald Trump and the Democratic Party’s Kamala Harris.

The ceremony will officially begin at 5.00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET, though the red carpet arrivals will likely start several hours earlier. To watch the show live on September 11, viewers can tune in to MTV at the given hour. Katy Perry is set to make her return to the MTV Music Video Awards stage this year for the first time since 2017. She will also be honored with the Video Vanguard Award at next month's ceremony. “Katy is a musical powerhouse and a true pop culture icon,” said Bruce Gillmer, Chief Content Officer of Music at Paramount+ and President of Music, Music Talent, Programming, and Events at Paramount, during a press release.

Previous recipients of the award include Shakira, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Missy Elliott. As for the performers confirmed to take the stage on the big night, the initial lineup features Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, and Sabrina Carpenter.
