Beyoncé currently holds the record for the most MTV Video Music Awards, with an impressive 27 Moonpersons. However, Taylor Swift could challenge this record, as she has received 10 nominations for this year’s ceremony. With 23 wins already placing her second behind Beyoncé, a victory in just 5 categories would make Swift the most-awarded artist in VMA history. Given that the 'Karma' singer won 9 awards last year, this edition could see a repeat of such a significant number of victories.
With 6 nominations at this year’s MTV VMAs, Eminem has a chance to become the most-awarded male artist. He is currently tied with Peter Gabriel, each having 13 wins. However, the ‘Mockingbird’ hitmaker could break this tie by securing the Best Hip-Hop award, particularly since Nicki Minaj, the most awarded artist in this category, is not competing this year. Additionally, he has opportunities to win in categories like Best Editing, Direction, and Visual Effects.
While Swift and Eminem are both poised to deliver standout moments at the 2024 MTV VMAs, Brazilian artist Anitta also has a strong chance to secure the most wins in Latin music.

As one of Latin America’s biggest stars, Anitta—a two-time VMA winner who has claimed Best Latin awards for her hits 'Envolver' and 'Funk Rave' over the past two years—is aiming for a third win. Nominated for 'Mil Veces' and 'Bellakeo' this year, a victory would make her the most-awarded female artist in the category, tying with J Balvin for the record of most consecutive wins with three.
Finally, a potential fourth record up for grabs this year involves the Artist of the Year category, which has been around since 2017. No artist has won this award more than once, even though a few have received multiple nominations. Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift are contenders, with Bunny having won in 2022, Grande in 2019, and Swift in 2023. However, whether history will be made or new winners will emerge to shift the narrative remains to be seen on the big day.
