Months After the Rap Battle of the Year, Drake Shares an Unreleased Kendrick Lamar Collaboration From the Past
This year has been especially thrilling in hip-hop, with continuous fireworks between rap legends Drake and Kendrick Lamar. While rap battles are a staple of hip-hop culture, recent years have seen a decrease in such high-profile conflicts, making everyone involved feel the intensity. Many artists and notable figures have publicly taken sides, even drawing some indirect participants into the fray. In an unexpected turn, Drake recently shared clips of a long-unreleased collaboration with Lamar.
Even though the tension has faded for a while, it is surprising that a reconciliation could happen so soon. As a result, the post has naturally been raising a lot of questions.

The intensity between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has eased, but the lingering bitterness remains. While many thought the feud was a thing of the past, Drake recently made a surprising move by releasing unexpected content on his 100 Gigs website. On August 27, he uploaded a clip featuring a discussion with his longtime producer, Noah 40 Shebib, about a Kendrick Lamar collaboration that had been completely unknown to the public.
The clip shows the producer working on a beat while Drake steps in to suggest how well Kendrick Lamar would fit with it. “I know he’s gonna murder this,” Drake says. 40's response further indicates that the beat was likely crafted specifically for the latter and Lamar collaboration, noting, “When you told me Kendrick, it just made so much sense.” The beat in question was co-produced by Dreamville artist Omen and was later used by Action Bronson in his 2013 track, ‘Actin’ Crazy.’
Drake's move can be interpreted in two ways: as an attempt to reconcile or as a strategic maneuver to make the first move. Regardless, fans have had mixed reactions to the clip.
Drake and Kendrick Lamar fans are once again at odds over the unreleased track
Just as the world was buckling up with anticipation for Kendrick Lamar's upcoming releases after recent hints from DJ Akademiks, an old, unreleased collaboration between K-Dot and Drake emerged, reigniting lingering tensions. While the talk about Lamar's involvement was unexpected, it fit into Drake's recent pattern of releasing content linked to people he has had conflicts with.
While some may view this as an attempt at reconciliation, hardcore fans found it hard to embrace that notion.

With fans already picking sides between Lamar and Drizzy, some have voiced their frustration over the possibility that the two icons may never collaborate again. Since it was Drake who released the clip and praised Lamar in the past, the heat was evidently more on K-Dot than on his rival. However, even Lamar's fans could not help but acknowledge the potential masterpiece the two could have created together. As the fanbase remains deeply divided, only time will tell if this move leaves a lasting impact or fades away.
