RapTV on X, formerly Twitter, shared this story about Metro Boomin’s favorite albums of Kanye West. The first favorite album of Metro Boomin was the debut studio album of Ye ‘The College Dropout’, a release that went on to solidify its status as one of the most influential rap albums ever. Departing from the digital production style popularized by Timbaland in the early 2000s, ‘The College Dropout’ steered hip-hop away from the flashy lifestyle associated with the “Bling Era”.
The second album chosen by Metro Boomin from Kanye West’s repertoire was the Grammy-winning third studio release, ‘Graduation’. Similar to his approach in the first two albums, ‘The College Dropout’ and ‘Late Registration’, Kanye West infused ‘Graduation’ with a distinctive sonic identity. Throughout the album, West leaned into electronic and synthesized beats, infusing the album with a colorful vibe that also mirrored the iconic album cover art.
Apart from unveiling his favorites from Kanye West’s collection, Metro Boomin also likened his upcoming album to one of Kanye West’s best works earlier this month.

Metro Boomin is raising the stakes for his upcoming project by comparing it to one of Kanye West’s legendary albums. While working on new music over the weekend, one of his X followers asked him if he would be able to make an album similar to Ye’s 2010 ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’. In response, the super-producer revealed his intention to infuse a similar ‘MBDTF’-esque vibe into his first post-Heroes trilogy album.
“Yeah my first album after the heroes trilogy is more of that vibe”, wrote Metro Boomin in response to the fan query. Hitting the shelves in November 2010, ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ also served as Ye’s comeback following the controversy at the MTV VMAs with Taylor Swift the previous year. And now, with ‘Vultures’, Kanye West will once again mark his comeback after his year-long break from the music industry.
