A Ye outfit making fans scratch their heads is not out of the ordinary. In fact, it is not just Ye, but his past and present partners have also been subject to the same cross-eyed confusion. There are certain outfits of the rapper from the bizarre plethora that have stood the test of time to stand as iconic, one of them being the spiked-up Donda Listening Party outfit in 2021. However, as it turns out, it was never Ye in that outfit. In fact, it was Vic Mensa who featured in the video while donning the mask-clad outfit.
Despite the buzz that the livestream had caused owing to big names such as Chance The Rapper and Steve Lacy featuring who fans thought to be, Ye went on to lift dumbbells in his mask clad spike outfit. The truth behind the identity was never revealed. Given his track record, it was just assumed that Ye was the one behind the mask until almost three years later Mensa revealed otherwise in his Instagram, making fans question their knowledge.
While the reason behind why Ye chose a video of Vic Mensa in a bizarre masked outfit to promote 'Donda' has not been revealed yet, the rapper has revealed previously why he prefers masks.

Somewhere down the line, Ye started pairing up his outfits with either jewel stacked masks, black masks, or white masks. It was unclear to fans whether this was a statement that he was trying to make or simply a new fashion trend. However, the rapper revealed a very logical reason behind his use of masks and it had fans rolling over. Ye revealed that if it were not for the masks, people choose less flattering pictures for himself.
While it may not have been him under the mask in that one Donda Listening Party, the rapper has remained true to his headgear choice even after the grand debacle and resurgence of his career. However, none of these masks come close to the impact of the teddy bear's head from the 'College' trilogy.
