Ye formerly known as Kanye West’s fans have long taken pride in his raw, unfiltered personality, as much as in his music. From the get-go, he has been admired for staying true to himself, no matter what others thought. But over time, that very unfiltered nature may have begun to wear thin, and what once seemed bold and funny became uncomfortable. From his antisemitic comments to white supremacist beliefs, and now his support for Sean Diddy Combs—sadly, the last one had even his most loyal fans to exist on the planet at a loss for words. 

Ye recently dropped a post on X demanding the release of Sean Diddy Combs from prison. A mere two words—“FREE PUFF”—yet they carried the weight of an entire movement. But that was not all. He also shared an Instagram video of a FaceTime call with Diddy’s son, to double down on his plea. Then, in the dead of night, he went off, calling out Hollywood for supposedly turning their backs on Diddy when he needed them. He accused the elites of just sitting back and watching Combs rot behind bars without batting an eye.

Ye then reached out to the president, with whom he has had quite the relationship. The ‘Donda’ rapper tagged Donald Trump in a post on X, asking him to step in and help free Combs. He wrote, “@realDonaldTrump PLEASE FREE MY BROTHER PUFF.” While it is still not totally clear why Ye is so adamant about Diddy’s release, it is safe to say that his recent appeal has left his fans with little to no ground to defend him.

Fans took to X to call Ye out for supporting Sean Diddy Combs—and they were not just any fans; these were Ye’s most die-hard stans. 

Ye and Sean Diddy Combs have had an on-and-off friendship. They started as good friends with their shared passion for music and fashion. They were frequently seen together at studio sessions and red-carpet events and showered each other with public praise. But then came Ye’s White Lives Matter debacle and their relationship strained. Now fans are wondering when exactly these two became so close again that Ye is rallying so hard for Diddy’s release—despite the serious allegations against him. Many fans even tried to remind Ye of Diddy's charges again. 

Many fans expressed their disappointment over Ye's stance. "Lost respect for you just now," said a fan.

Ye is already under heat over his high-profile Grammy red-carpet spectacle. Beyond the familiar mockery of Bianca Censori’s audacious fashion choices, this time, the backlash was more directed towards Ye, and fans were instead sympathetic to his wife. Nonetheless, the rapper is still teasing music and promoting his work, even amid the risk of losing his fiercely loyal fanbase.
