Lil Wayne and H.E.R all set to stun the audience at ESPY

As the date of July 12th approaches, the ESPY Awards prepares to unfold without a traditional host, yet reserving its platform to honor and celebrate an array of athletic luminaries for their remarkable achievements within the realm of sports. Taking place in the illustrious Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, this captivating spectacle shall come alive, accompanied by mesmerizing musical performances that promise to captivate the audience.

Opening the show with his undeniable talent, the acclaimed rapper and five-time Grammy winner, Lil Wayne, shall grace the stage. As per Awful Announcing, the incomparable H.E.R shall enchant the audience with a captivating rendition of her latest single, ‘The Journey.’ H.E.R’s performance will serve as an evocative tribute. It will pay homage to the illustrious 30th anniversary of the V Foundation, while also commemorating the iconic words spoken by Jim Valvano during his unforgettable speech in 1993.

Despite all the highlight performances, in almost three years, ESPY awards are to go host-less. Here is the reason why.

Why ESPY has no host for this season

The ongoing writers strike orchestrated by the WGA has cast a shadow of disruption upon numerous ventures. Netflix seems to be cancelling shows as a result of the WGA strike. Unfortunately, the ESPYs have not escaped unscathed. This esteemed event, which has witnessed the inclusion of hosts throughout its illustrious three-decade history, finds itself deprived of a host due to the prevailing circumstances. Notably, the inaugural ESPY Awards held in 1993 were gracefully presided over by the esteemed Dennis Miller.

Persisting since the month of May, the writer’s strike reverberates with fervent demands for improved remuneration and enhanced job security. Regrettably, the absence of writers poses a significant predicament for esteemed award shows such as the ESPYs. Notwithstanding these constraints, the Tony Awards, the celebrated accolades of the esteemed Broadway stage, defied the dearth of writers by appointing Ariana DeBose, renowned for her stellar performance in ‘West Side Story,’ as the host for the ceremony.
