Given the chokehold they had on audiences earlier, that their comeback would be so embroiled in turmoil and controversies was something fans and, more importantly, Chester Bennington’s family did not expect.

Linkin Park's return to the stage was never going to be just another reunion tour, this was the comeback of a band forever shadowed by the absence of its beloved frontman, Chester Bennington. But not everyone is clapping. Bennington's family, with their sorrow still raw, has made it clear that this encore is striking the wrong chord.

With Linkin Park's comeback leaving a bitter taste in many mouths, it seems that not all wounds heal in time for the next performance, even if there had been a seven-year hiatus in between. While the comeback is marred with controversies, Chester Bennington’s mother has other bones to pick. Susan Eubanks, Bennington’s mother, told Rolling Stone that she feels "betrayed" as all she had asked the band was to notify her if they decided to continue as a band, and they failed to do that as well.

The sense of betrayal that Eubanks feels stems from the fact that the band, as per her statement, had promised to notify her of the plans of their own accord. However, they failed to meet the expectations that they had set up. Chester Bennington’s mother also feels that through all this, the band is trying very hard to erase the magical era with her late son.

Eubanks was not the only one from Chester Bennington’s family who felt wronged by the action of the band, his son too has expressed his dismay.

Linkin Park in all its years on stage may have struck a wrong chord or two. However, this time around, they seem to be using the wrong guitar itself. Their comeback is neck-deep in controversy owing to their choice of replacement, Emily Armstrong. As if fans were not already enraged, Charles Bennington’s family, specifically his son's scathing accusation on Instagram that Linkin Park is silently trying to erase his father's legacy, especially during suicide prevention month, has added salt to the wounds.

Even if the comeback and the new addition result in good music, owing to the sentiments attached, it is unlikely that Linkin Park's comeback will have a successful sail. Moreover, that the band has continued to keep mum despite the enrage online if further making matters worse.
