Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl News: Master P Gets Brutally Trolled for Suggesting ‘Euphoria’ Singer to Share Stage With This Legendary Rapper
After a whirlwind year in the hip-hop scene, filled with mic-drop moments with a civil rap war with Drake, Kendrick Lamar is back and aiming even higher. As buzz builds around his new music and debates over the greatest of all time rage on, K-Dot’s recent highlight comes with a major milestone—landing a spot on the Super Bowl LIX setlist. But instead of celebrating, fans were caught up in the drama, with a Master P nomination stirring up some serious trolling and heated opinions.
Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL announced on Sunday that Kendrick Lamar has been tapped to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl LIX Halftime show. This will be his second time rocking the halftime stage, following his star-studded 2022. But just as fans were gearing up for the K-Dot excitement, Master P threw in a curveball, sending a letter to the NFL, Jay-Z, and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, suggesting Lil Wayne be added to the lineup on his Instagram. The result? An Internet roast-a-thon from fans who did not hold back.

Master P called Lil Wayne "one of the greatest hip-hop artists alive, still relevant," highlighting his New Orleans roots to push for his spot in the Super Bowl lineup. However, fans quickly noticed what Master P left out. After all, K-Dot just squared off with Drake in the rap battle of the year, and Wayne happens to be Drake’s mentor and "label boss" despite reports earlier this year about his selling off the catalogs with his masters.
Consequently, taking shots at Master P and claiming his opinions do not exactly carry much weight, these netizens argued that the fans—who are about to pack the place with nearly sold out tickets—should have a bigger say in the lineup!
Master P confronts a digital smackdown after suggesting Lil Wayne to Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl setlist
After taking aim at Drake with his fiery lineup of slam tracks, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ became the most-streamed diss track of all time, overtaking Tupac’s ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ in just three months. While it easily claimed the title of diss anthem of the year, Lamar’s Super Bowl spot further proved his unstoppable reign. But when Master P dropped his not-so-masterful suggestion of adding Lil Wayne to the lineup, fans were not having it, reminding everyone the event was not just a New Orleans show.
A bunch of fans brought up that Usher, who is not even from Vegas, still got his time to shine to argue that Lamar deserves his moment too. On the flip side, a few folks were not totally against the idea of throwing Wayne into the mix.

Some fans argued Lamar has already had his Super Bowl moment and Wayne should get the chance to open the show, since native artists supposedly never get a shot. On the other hand, a few believe Wayne’s omission might be strategic since he does not have the same contemporary clout as K-Dot. With opinions all over the place and the troll storm still raging, it is anyone’s guess where fans will land once things settle down.
