Amidst the torrent of updates from artists spanning the entire music industry on what tails their next era, Kendrick Lamar arrived with ‘GNX’ to prove he does not need one to shine, because the surprise factor is more than enough. And right out of the gate of its release, the reaction for the record has been swift and decisive. Nas took to his Instagram recently, sharing the ‘GNX’ cover to send love to his “brother KL” for always inspiring him.

Nas thanked K-Dot for preserving the “essence” of hip-hop, posting the picture with ‘man of the garden’ playing in the background, a track that echoes his 2002 hit, ‘One Mic.’ In hip-hop, rules are bent, but Nas stays true, especially for his brother from another mother, Lamar, who dropped a nod for him in ‘wacced out murals’ with the line, “Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me.”
