While the shift of tectonic plates and metamorphosis is usually associated with cinema and sometimes Mother Earth, under the current circumstances, only the music industry has risen up to match the intensity of the phrase. More specifically, to the Kendrick Lamar and Drake rap battle. What may have been a long, churning, rocky relationship translated into the fiercest battle of heated exchanges, all wrapped up in songs with chart-topping and record-breaking potential.

There is no denying that said rap battle would not have garnered the attention it did if either one of them had not committed. However, both K. Dot and Drizzy were all in, but the former has evidently brought a devastating fall on the latter.

Given the entities involved, it was expected that the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle would never have an easy winner. However, with the way echoes of 'Not Like Us' have been roaring from every nook and cranny, it is safe to say that one end of the scale was heavier than the other. Now, cementing his spot further, Kendrick Lamar's 'Not Like Us' has become the fastest rap song ever to reach 500 million streams on Spotify, a record previously held by Drake's 'God's Plan'.

While the song had already been declared as a crowd favorite banger upon its release, the rapper went on to perform it on stage 5 times in a row at The Pop Out: Ken And Friends. However, just to put his money where his mouth is, Kendrick Lamar also released a video metaphorically tormenting Drake in the shadiest way possible.

While Lamar's goal was to diss Drake, the track has unraveled to be much more than just a diss track. This is true, especially for its ranking on Spotify charts, where it dethroned what fans considered the ultimate summer banger featuring Ye, formerly known as Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign.

Following the cutting of the ribbon on the rap battle earlier this year, many rappers tried to make allies with either Drake or Kendrick Lamar while some opted out to preserve their zen. While it seemed like Ye was among the former, given the pin-drop silence, he opted for after the release of 'Vultures 1', there is not much to back his claim. While he may not have had much to do with the rap battle, his track 'Carnival' currently stands defeated because of it.

Not long ago, Ye and Ty Dolla $ign claimed a major victory as 'Carnival' crossed the 500 million mark on Spotify to become the most streamed rap song of this year. However, once again rising to meet the shift of tectonic plates, the music industry has crowned Kenrick Lamar the 500 million crown within a matter of days.
